Nothing says the holidays are among us than the beginning of crab season in San Mateo County/Silicon Valley. And this year is bountiful! According to our sources, the 2014 crab season has started off strong. Some fishermen have waited over 24 hours in line to have their crab weighed for retail sale! This year’s abundance means plenty of crab for all your holiday meals and plenty in our restaurants! Here is a round-up of restaurants that serve local crab. Half Moon Bay Brewing Company
Half Moon Bay Brewing Company has quite a catch of Dungeness crab this season! Enjoy an assortment of dishes such as warm, whole cracked crab with pesto, half crab cioppino, crab and pumpkin bisque, Dungeness crab roll, crab cake Benedict and even a crab omelet!
It’s Italia is offering baked Dungeness crab cakes, crab and shrimp Louisa salad, a grilled cheesy crab and shrimp sandwich, and a Dungeness crab cioppino. The weekend brunch menu will feature Dungeness Crab Benedict on polenta cakes and a crab and Brussels sprouts omelet with goat cheese. Throughout the holiday season, be sure to try a Dungeness Crab Martini from the bar!
Known for their contemporary Peruvian cuisine and breathtaking views of the Pacific, La Costanera is celebrating crab season by featuring Pastel de Cangrejo, a potato chip-crusted Dungeness crab cake with mushrooms and sweet Rocoto sauce that is sure to delight palates.

The Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay
The Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay will treat guests to a crab-inspired culinary adventure in Navio that highlights the season in an unforgettable way. For breakfast, try the Coastal Eggs Benedict with Dungeness Crab, artichoke spread, and lemon hollandaise. For dinner, enjoy the Dungeness Crab, house-made smoked pumpkin ravioli, squid ink pasta, rainbow Swiss chard, crab cream sauce, and sage foam.
