Nothing says summer like fireworks on the 4th of July. Long sun drenched evenings, lasting family memories and nostalgia fuel this summer holiday. Here is a list of events to help create those memories.

Foster City, July 4th – Foster City will be celebrating from 9 a.m. till their fireworks show, beginning at 9:30 p.m. We’re all excited for this all-day event at Leo Ryan Park!  The event will have everything a Fourth of July event needs.  Games, food, entertainment, family and dog parade, and a grand fireworks display. Grab a blanket and some of your closest friends and family and enjoy this tradition together. If you want to take a break from the land festivities and get out on the water, rent a Duffy electric boat from Edgewater Marine and cruise the lagoon for a couple of hours. All boats must be back before sunset, so make sure to save your spot at the park for the firework display!

Redwood City, July 4th – Another all-day event! Put together by Peninsula Celebration Association Family 4th in Redwood City. Spend the morning before the parade running around the streets of Redwood City for the annual 5k. Visitors also have the option of joining the Redwood City Fire Department at the main Marshall Street fire station for a pancake breakfast from 7:30-10:30 a.m.  Watch the annual parade that starts 10 a.m. and support local organizations and artists in true Silicon Valley entrepreneurial style. Make sure you claim your parade-viewing spot early though. Spectators can begin setting up as early as the day before! After the parade, entertainment includes the Battle of the Bands, featuring UC Davis and Stanford at 1 p.m. on Hamilton. End your 4th of July celebration with fireworks beginning at 9:30 p.m. over the Port of Redwood City. This spectacle of lights can be seen from all over mid-Silicon Valley.

Pacifica, July 4th – Pacifica’s 43rd Annual 4th of July Celebration will start off with a 5-mile “Rocket Race” beginning at the 9:00 a.m. After the race the real fun begins! From 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Frontierland Park will be the scene of live music, face painting, free games, food, and something for everyone! Fireworks are not included in this event but you may always start here and party hop over to our other suggestions!

Also, check out live music and a 4th of July BBQ at Nick's Seafood Restaurant! The California Cowboys will be playing from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. and have the place cracking like fireworks!

Palo Alto, July 4th – One thing we can all agree on is that Silicon Valley is full of creators and foodies. This festival is the best of both. Starting at 12 p.m. and attracting thousands of sun and chili lovers, the festival, in it’s 36th year, embraces everything wonderful about summer with good food and live music. Taste an array of red-hot chili delicacies prepared by teams of chefs battling for the chili championship. Chili tasting starts at 12 pm. To cool you off, there will also be ice cream parlor and desserts area (for purchase).
