Our last blog on live music and entertainment listed just a handful of places in San Mateo County/Silicon Valley, therefore we’ve decided to write a “Part 2” in order to include some additional venues. Here are some more of our favorite places to visit when we’re in the mood for live music, karaoke, dancing or live performances!
7 Mile House
The historic 7 Mile House is a family and dog-friendly restaurant, sports bar, and, most importantly, an amazing live music venue! Their 10 year-long Jazz Program continually grows with a range of notable Bay Area artists, which are sure to keep you entertained. Live music at the 7 Mile House includes Jazz, Blues, R&B, Soft Rock, and much more. Keep in mind that events are constantly being added, so we recommend checking their calendar of events often. With a reputation for bringing world-class music into its intimate setting, 7 Mile House is guaranteed to bring you an experience like no other!
A Grape in the Fog
Established in 2010, A Grape in the Fog is a charming wine bar in Pacifica, where you can celebrate the best of coastal living and lovely boutique wines from around the world. The restaurant’s ambiance features a relaxing, Tuscan seaside-inspired décor, and their staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. Their calendar of events features live music every weekend, as well as many other special events such as Quiz Night and After-Market. In a short time, A Grape in The Fog has already become the perfect place for locals and visitors alike to share amazing wine (or perhaps one of their craft-style beers), enjoy a great time and relax with friends.
Cameron’s Restaurant & Pub
Half Moon Bay, CA
Continuing on the coastside, this true English pub is a must if you’re visiting Half Moon Bay! The pub boasts 19 beers on tap, 60+ in bottles, and a bound-to-be-famous beer can collection of over 2,000. In addition to a wide selection of beer, Cameron’s Pub also offers great live music, open mics on Thursday nights, sports, local community events, and karaoke on Friday and Saturday nights. Cameron’s ultimate goal is to have families flock to their place for delicious food, drinks and an amazing time. This is definitely a place where parents and children, tourists and locals, are all treated with the same respect, so make sure to stop by if you’re in the area. And if you aren’t sure where Cameron’s is located, just drive down HWY 1 and keep an eye out for a large, red double-decker bus parked outside.
The Swingin’ Door
San Mateo, CA
The Swingin’ Door has been voted the “Best Place for a Cocktail” in San Mateo since 2012, and is one of the premier venues for live music and entertainment, such as Comedy Shows on Monday nights, Live Dixieland Jazz on Tuesday nights, Karaoke Nights - Wednesday thru Saturday nights - and Trivia Nights on Sundays. However, the real fun takes place on Friday and Saturdays during their world famous Dueling Piano Show! This audience-grabbing “dueling pianos” concept makes The Swingin’ Door a highly recommended nightlife attraction. For a fun night on the Peninsula, make sure to head out to this British pub and enjoy the wide range of music, entertainment, comedy, and awesome food.
Redwood City, CA
Located in the heart of Downtown Redwood City, the Fox Theatre is another premier entertainment venue in Silicon Valley. With a capacity of 1,174 people, the theatre is perfect for concerts and live performances. In addition, the theatre is located near 60 different pre- or post-event dining options within walking distance. Their event schedule is constantly being added to, so we suggest checking back often. Some of their 2018 events include “An Acoustic Evening with Lyle Lovett and Robert Earl Keen,” Boz Scaggs, comedian Eddie Izzard, and “Art Garfunkel in Close-Up”.
