Summer is here and that means late sunsets, warm evenings and a chance to spend more time outdoors. Whether you make San Mateo County/Silicon Valley your home or you are lucky enough be visiting us, our cities offer a huge variety of outdoor family-friendly concerts and live music in parks throughout our region. Here is a short list of events to check out this summer…
Redwood City - Music on the Square on Fridays, June 2 to September 1 from 6:00 – 8:00, is one of the most treasured nights of summer! Enjoy high-energy shows that get everyone on their feet dancing and having a great time. Plus, being surrounded by so many scrumptious and diverse restaurants and bars, there are plenty of options for a variety of cuisine before, during and after the show!
San Bruno - The Fourth Annual Community Day on Sunday, June 4 immediately follows the 77th Annual Posy Parade. Pre-sale ride bands are available for purchase at the Recreation Center and City Hall for $10 each, if purchased before June 4. Ride bands will also be available for purchase at the event for $15 each.
Palo Alto –World Music Day, a free music festival that takes place annually on Father's Day, will be held on Sunday, June 18 from 3:00 - 7:30, on University Avenue (closed to traffic). Enjoy 50 professional and amateur musical groups performing a variety of genres on street corners and plazas: jazz, blues, classical, pop, rock, klezmer, Greek, Balkan, Indian, World Music, choral, dance, and more. This is a fun and unique family event not to be missed!
San Mateo – Central Park Music Series, June 22 - August 17, every Thursday evening from 6:00 – 8:00. The City of San Mateo sponsors this event to provide memorable summer evenings of FREE live music. Whether you are looking to socialize with friends, get some needed family time, or dance the night away, this season is sure to be a great time.
Burlingame – Music in the Park, Sundays in July from 1:00-3:00, offers free entertainment and a fun-filled afternoon. Food is available to purchase, or you may bring a picnic, blanket and chairs. Kids will love the face painting, hair braiding, cotton candy, popcorn and ice cream. The Burlingame Art Society is on-site hosting open houses at each concert to display some of their amazing artwork.
Foster City – Summer Concert Series, Fridays in August from 6:00 – 8:00, at the Leo J. Ryan Amphitheater. Bring a blanket in case the night gets cool. Foster City Rotary and Lions Clubs will be selling a variety of food and drinks. Dogs on leash are allowed. Parking at the Rec Center, City Hall and Parkside Towers (after 6:00 pm).
South San Francisco – The Annual Concert in the Park will be held Saturday, September 23, from Noon to 5:00 at Orange Memorial Park, South San Francisco. The event features four acts on two stages, food trucks, craft beer and wine sales, and kids’ activities.
