David Park: Artist and Educator
David Park was born in Boston in 1911, Park moved to California to attend the Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles.He moved to San Francisco in 1943 to teach at the California School of Fine Arts (now the San Francisco Art Institute). He was considered an Abstract Expressionist and in 1949, he destroyed all of his abstract work and began work on what are now called his ‘New Figurative’ paintings. The Anderson Collection is home to one of these paintings, Four Women, 1959.
