Beaches & Parks
A coastal promontory located along the Pacific Ocean between Pacifica and Montara. Devil’s Slide Trail is a 1.3 mile multi-use trail that was part of the original Highway 1. The trail gives hikers, runners, bicyclists and equestrians access to the rocky heights of Devil’s Slide.
Memorial County Park
Located in Loma Mar, this 673 acre park provides an opportunity to view old-growth redwoods. Over eight miles of hiking trails lead visitors through a changing panorama of habitats from Pescadero Creek, through the woods and to the summit of Mt Ellen (elevation 600 feet).
Ano Nuevo State Park
The Park’s rich variety of natural and cultural resources draws visitors from around the world. The park’s Natural Preserve offers an extraordinary wilderness experience, where every year up to 10,000 elephant seals return to breed, give birth, and molt their skin amongst the scenic dunes and beaches.
With nearly 60 miles of Pacific Ocean beaches, San Mateo County is known for great water recreation such as surfing, kayaking and swimming as well as fishing. One popular beach in the southern portion of Pacifica is Rockaway Beach. The beautiful coastal bluffs have verticality as steep as 60 percent, while some of the quarry surfaces are completely sheer.
