Located in downtown Redwood City, Gourmet Haus Staudt is a three-generation family owned and operated German market and biergarten. The market sells exciting German goods, rare chocolates and German candies, seasonal and festive treats and also houses an enormous selection of craft and German bottled beers. The market also hosts regular beer tastings to educate the public on the different styles and types of beer.
The biergarten in the back is a favorite amongst locals and serves up mouth-watering German fare. The “jumbo pretzel with salami and cheese” is a must try! Beers are served in half or full liters and the wonderful staff will let you try a sample of the beers before your order a large glass of suds. They have a selection of taps dedicated to German beers and for those who want something different they also offer an additional selection of local craft beer and cider taps. There is something for everyone at gourmet Haus Staudt!
Similar to the bars in Germany, Gourmet Haus Staudt has no TV’s and offer communal seating to encourage conversation and merriment amongst its customers. It’s a very festive place to visit during Oktoberfest season and the holidays. They allow well-behaved dogs on the back patio, and the biergarten is family-friendly. Saturdays they offer a traditional German lunch special — they offer meals such as schweinshaxe, roulade, schnitzel and so many more delicious handmade German delicacies.
