San Mateo County/Silicon Valley

Just north of the San Francisco International Airport and west of the waters of the San Francisco Bay, South San Francisco (also known as South City), offers visitors numerous activities, restaurants and places to stay.

Not only is the city known as the “Biotech Capital of the World” (heard of Genentech?), but the location conveniently places them on the map to be known by world travelers. The city offers numerous hotel options and great public transportation to San Francisco and the Bay Area. BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) is available at the South San Francisco Station and Ferry Service at the Oyster Point Marina.

When Karl the Fog burns off in the early afternoon, there are plenty of things to do in South Francisco – from excellent dining options to outdoor activities, this location excites visitors from all over.

You can hike the famous Sign Hill Park, take a stroll along Oyster Point Park & Marina – a 33-acre park with trails and views of the San Francisco Bay or sign up for a Dragon Boating class with the Oyster Point Dragons. Want to test your wine knowledge?
